Tape Data Recovery

It is a common practice to back up systems to tape drives. They are fast, convenient and are high capacity. However, tapes can fail for the same reasons as other magnetic media. Data Recovery Services has recovered tapes that have become corrupt due to many situations.Including:
Physical damage
Back up Failures
Water damaged tapes
Overwritten Tapes
Smoke or Chemical Damaged Tapes
Intentionally damaged tapes
Broken Tapes DRS has developed its own
tape data recovery software in its research and development lab to access more data off of tapes than ever before. Our in-house programmers are constantly upgrading and generating new recovery software to help better serve you. Our engineers are trained in
recovery from many tape formats.Including:
4mm DAT, DDS, DDS2, DDS3, DDS4
Super DLT & DLT tapes
Exabyte 8mm
SONY AIT 1, 2 and 3
Travan tapes
QIC mini cartridge tapes
9-track tape recovery and conversion
OnStream ADR 30 and 50 GB
LTO 1, 2 and 3
VXA 1 and 2
Mammoth 1 and 2
SLR 2, 3 ,4, 5 DRS will thoroughly examine your
tape for any kind of damage, whether it is physical or logical, before any attempt is made to recover the data. Our first concern is to secure a copy of your data to the fullest extent possible; this can be achieved by performing a low-level read of your tape. We will then work from a secure copy of your data to identify the format and determine what process will be used to complete the recovery. After determining what steps will be necessary to complete your
tape data recovery, we will contact you. No work will be done without your approval. As soon as you approve the recovery, our engineers will continue with the recovery effort.

Microsoft SQL Server Database Recovery

Most companies use RDBMS (relational database management system) and store their data in SQL databases. What happens if after rebooting the server the database doesn't attach and your backup is corrupt, incomplete or outdated? Have you ever had a drive containing
SQL database crash and the files were recovered by a data recovery company but the SQL database is corrupted? One unreadable sector inside a
SQL database will not allow the file to attach. SQL recovery from drive failure is, more often than not, a two-stage process. First, the physical data (raw sectors) must be recovered in order to gain access to the logical data. If the database will not attach to
SQL server then the second stage is
SQL data recovery. FIRST Advantage Data Recovery will quote you pricing for each process.Media in database servers suffers from the same failure points as drives in personal computers.Even the best-configured system can fail due to:
Corrupted database MDF file
Torn page detection
Deleted data (tables, records, system objects)
I/O errors in SQL server
Deleted or corrupted LDF log file
SQL Database in "suspected" mode
Unable to restore from corrupted SQL backup fileIs it possible to recover? In most cases it is possible to
repair database to an attachable state. If we are unable to repair the database to a point to where it will attach, then we will recover as many tables and records as possible for you with our specialized software tools. This recovered data can then be merged back into an empty database that your front end application will work with:Getting Started: If the failure mechanism is hardware or file system corruption, then we would require the original media to be sent to us. This is because file fragmentation can scatter pieces of the database and log file all over the media. These pieces must be collected and reassembled so we can start our analysis. If the database was corrupted by some other means then a copy on any media will do.What can you do to help us? Third party
SQL recovery and utility programs can cause damage beyond our ability to recover the files so please don't try anything on the original files. For
database repair and/or scavenging, it will save time if you can furnish us with the database structure (perhaps an empty database or backup) and a list of prioritized tables. After determining what steps will be necessary to complete your recovery, we will contact you for approval. No work will be done without your approval. As soon as you approve the recovery, our technician will continue with the recovery effort, by analyzing the database and records containing your data. This data can then be extracted and the database rebuilt.

Microsoft Exchange and Mail Systems Recoveries

E-mail servers are an integral part of a businesses' ability to succeed in today's environment. A critical services database that changes very often, such as messaging and collaboration data, should be fully protected by a well-tested backup solution. However, back-up devices can also fail leaving the client with serious problems. Standard repair utilities within the mail applications can cause further damage if media failure or structural damage has occurred. In fact, these routines will often increase the damage. We support
Microsoft Exchange Server data recoveryversions 5.5, 2000 and 2003.Our Microsoft Certified Engineers are able to
recover the mailboxes located in the Information Store from just about any kind of "
Jet Engine Error", "
Read Verification Error", database corruption, over sized files or problem with the
Information Store files in general.Typical Situations:
Inconsistent file state
Dirty shutdown
Corrupted header information
Write errors
Duplicate keys (Identifiers)
Our engineers can recover your email-boxes that are in your Exchange Server database file or repair the database file itself.Standard Service Included:
Recovery of email addresses from Active Directory storage
Recovery of folders, messages and file attachments
Recovery of notes, contacts, tasks and appointments
Recovery of creation dates for all objects
Formatting recovered for RTF and HTML messages DRS also has the capabilities to recover your
Exchange Server Information Store Files from many forms of backup tapes.Warning: Widely available recovery utilities can delete valuable data!Make a copy of your .EDB, .STM and .LOG files prior to:
Attempting to attach or repair a damaged Information Store
Opening a tech support case with Microsoft
Sending your database to any other company After determining what steps will be necessary to complete your
Exchange server recovery, we will contact you for your approval.. No work will be done without your approval. As soon as you approve the quotation, our engineers will continue with the recovery process.

RAID Data Recovery

Our dedicated team of
RAID recovery engineers are trained to handle all of the current server hardware platforms as well as commonly used legacy systems utilized in the market today.Complex fault-tolerant systems can also suffer from a crash. Often, failure to correctly implement these systems leads to point of malfunction and can cause data loss. This is human error and not shortcomings of the technology used or the design of the array.Even the best-configured system can fail due to:
RAID Controller failure
Multiple drive failure
Accidental replacement of media components
Accidental reformatting of drives or whole RAID array
Array configuration lost
Intermittent drive failure resulting in RAID degradation DRS has extensive experience in recovery from
failed RAID's, including parity-distributed and basic spanned or striped volumes. We only require the active members of the array in order to recover lost data – no controllers, cables or enclosures. If you are asked for the original RAID controller or array system by a data recovery company, be careful – you may be risking recoverable data to an inexperienced firm!Every single
RAID data recoverycase which arrives at our labs receives high priority importance because we know and understand them to be a top priority for most organizations. Our disk recovery process, coupled with our ability to produce a safe sector-to sector dump of the complete volume, allows us to process an array as a collection of image files.
RAID recovery of crashed members of the array is similar to hard drive recovery procedures. All further procedures to recover data from array members are done on the raw images, leaving original drives intact. Our advanced software tools will extract the data from the images. When a drive image is not available, the tools can reconstruct the data 'on-the-fly' in the same way that the RAID rebuild process would have done on the original system. After determining what steps will be necessary to complete your
RAID data recovery, we will contact you for approval . No work will be done without your approval. As soon as you approve the quotation, our engineers will continue with the recovery process.

Data Recovery Services provides recovery service on a full range of
hard drives and operating systems including
IDE, EIDE, SATA and
SCSI hard drive assemblies all makes and models of laptops and notebooks.Operating Systems:
• UNIX (select families) • Novell • Windows • DOS
• Linux • MAC • And more!
Personal computers, workstations, laptops, PDA's and even digital cameras that store data on hard drives, removable magnetic media or flash RAM cards, all suffer from the same failures, some of which are:
• Unable to boot • Virus attacks • Inaccessible drives or partitions • Unable to run or load data • Data corrupted
• Hard drive failure • Hard drive crashes • Fire and water damage • Surface contamination and damage • Accidental deletion of data
If the media is inaccessible we will first test the components and closely examine the drive platters to determine the extent of physical damage, which enables us to layout a course of action for each individual drive.
Hard drive recovery involves replacing failed components such as read/write head assemblies, logic control components and drive motors in a clean room environment. In most cases, the recovery process involves restructuring the data by examining the low-level data sectors and determining what fixes to file system structures are needed to gain access to the logical data. Using highly sophisticated techniques and proprietary equipment and software, our engineers are able to fix and recover data from these raw images of all operating systems.
We use only non-destructive hard drive data recovery processes that use drive sectors cloning. This means we pull data from your drive on a sector by sector basis, and we work directly on the clone. This will ensure your drive is not damaged further and that a second image of the original structure can be acquired if needed. After determining what steps will be necessary to complete your
hard drive recovery, we will contact you . No work will be done without your approval. As soon as you approve the recovery, our engineers will continue with the recovery effort, validate the data and place it on a suitable replacement media, whether that is another drive, CDROM, DVD, any other media of your choice.
